We are the oldest player in the industry in the UK and occupy an almost unique position on a global scale. We have remained continually committed to the use of non-fossil energy sources for power generation, and over the last 40 years have installed over 100,000 of our Rutland Windchargers. We have been a key player in the emerging photovoltaic solar panel market since 1987, and our distribution of solar panels for BP Solar has extended from off-grid sales to residential PV systems.

Marlec was founded in 1978 in Rutland, the UK's smallest county, by our founder John Fawkes, who went on to receive a Wind Energy Pioneer Award from the British Wind Energy Association. As an engineer and successful businessman in early retirement, he was asked to investigate methods of keeping batteries charged on farms to run electric fencing units remote from the power grid. The solution was the Rutland Windcharger, a simple, reliable, silent and efficient wind-powered battery charging generator.
Marlec is based in Corby, UK. Worldwide, tens of thousands of satisfied users rely on Marlec products, in some of the world's most extreme climates, from Antarctica to the Sahara Desert. Wherever there's a need for low power, in whatever part of the world, Marlec has the solution.
