Victron BMV-712 series battery monitors calculate ampere-hour consumption and battery charge level. Consumption is calculated by the flow of current into and out of the battery. Microprocessor-programmed algorithms enable precise control of battery consumption.
With integrated Bluetooth, the BMV Smart is ready for the age of the Internet of Things (IoT). With Bluetooth implemented in most other Victron Energy products, wireless communication between products will simplify system installation and improve performance.

All electrical connections are made by quick connectors on the shunt's printed circuit board (PCB). The shunt is connected to the controller using a standard RJ12 telephone cable. Included: RJ12 cable (10 m) and battery cable with fuse (2 m). No other components are required.
Other parts supplied are a dial for square or round screens, a fixing ring for rear mounting, and the screws required for front mounting.
A bad cell, or a bad battery, can destroy a large and expensive battery bank. When batteries are connected in series, a timely warning can be produced by measuring the median voltage. Please refer to section 5.2 of the BMV manual for further information.
We recommend our Battery Balancer - BMS012201000 - to optimize the life of lead-acid batteries connected in series.
Current consumption: 0.7 Ah per month (1 mA) @12 V and 0.6 Ah per month (0.8 mA) @ 24 V
Lithium-ion batteries in particular have almost no power left when discharged to a standstill at low voltage.
After a shutdown due to low cell voltage, the power reserve of a lithium-ion battery is around 1 Ah for every 100 Ah of battery power. The battery will be damaged if the remaining power reserve is extracted from the battery. For example, a residual current of 10 mA can damage a 200 Ah battery if the system is left discharged for more than 8 days.
Prevents increased current draw in the event of an alarm.
