Controller Victron SmartSolar 150/35 - 150/45
Charging current up to 35 A and PV voltage up to 150 V
The SmartSolar MPPT 150/35 charge controller can charge a lower voltage battery from a higher voltage PV array. The controller will automatically adapt to a nominal battery voltage of 12, 24 or 48 V.
Ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT).
Especially under cloudy skies, when light intensity is constantly changing, an ultra-fast MPPT controller will improve energy harvesting by up to 30% compared with PWM (pulse-width modulation) charge controllers, and by up to 10% compared with slower MPPT controllers.
Advanced maximum power point detection in shaded conditions
Under shadowing conditions, two or more maximum power points may be present on the voltage-power curve. Conventional MPPTs tend to lock onto a local MPP, which may not necessarily be the optimum MPP. SmartSolar's innovative algorithm will always maximize energy recovery by locking on to the optimal MPP.
Outstanding conversion efficiency
No fan. Maximum efficiency in excess of 98%. Total output current up to 40°C (104°F).
Extended electronic protection
Overtemperature protection and power reduction at high temperatures. PV short-circuit and reverse polarity protection. PV reverse current protection.
Internal temperature sensor.
Compensates absorption and float charge voltages according to temperature.
Automatic battery voltage recognition
The controller will automatically adapt to a 12 V or 24 V system only once. If a different system voltage is required at a later stage, the change will have to be made manually, e.g. using the Bluetooth application. See section 1.11.
Flexible charging algorithm
Fully programmable charging algorithm, with eight pre-programmed algorithms selectable with a rotary switch.
Three-stage adaptive charging
The SmartSolar MPPT charge controller is configured for a three-stage charging process: Bulk - Absorption - Float.
Bulk
During this stage, the controller delivers as much current as possible to rapidly recharge the batteries.
Absorption
When the battery voltage reaches the absorption voltage parameters, the controller switches to constant voltage mode. During shallow battery discharges, the absorption charge time is limited to prevent overcharging. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to ensure the battery is fully recharged. What's more, the absorption period also ends when the charging current reduces to less than 2 A.
Float
During this stage, Float voltage is applied to the battery to keep it fully charged. When the battery voltage drops below Float voltage for at least 1 minute, a new charge cycle is triggered.
Remote on/off
The MPPT 150/35 can be controlled remotely via a VE.Direct non-inverting remote on/off cable (ASS030550300). A HIGH input (Vi > 8 V) will switch the controller to On - Ignition; and a LOW input (Vi < 2 V, or floating) will switch the controller to Off - Shutdown. Application example: VE.Bus BMS controls on/off when charging lithium-ion batteries.
Configuration and supervision
- Integrated Bluetooth Smart: the wireless solution for configuring, supervising and updating the controller using Apple and Android smartphones, tablets or other devices.
- Use the VE.Direct-USB cable (ASS030530000) to connect to a PC, Android smartphone or On-The-Go USB stick (OTG USB cable required).
- Use a VE.Direct-VE.Direct cable to connect to the MPPT Control or to a Color Control panel or Venus GX.
