Battery charger Victron Skylla-i 24V - (1+1 or 3 outputs)
A modern, powerful battery charger that stands up to adverse environmental conditions: heat, humidity and salty air.
Select the model you want from the options.
Skylla-i (1+1): two outputs for charging 2 battery banks
The Skylla-i (1+1) features 2 isolated outputs. The second output, limited to around 4 A and with a slightly lower output voltage, is designed to supply a starter battery.
Skylla-i (3): three full-current outputs for charging 3 battery banks
The Skylla-i (3) features 3 isolated outputs. All outputs can supply the full rated output current.
Robust
Epoxy powder-coated aluminum enclosures with stainless steel fasteners and drip cup resist adverse ambient conditions: heat, humidity and salty air.Electronic boards are protected by an acrylic coating for maximum corrosion resistance.Temperature sensors ensure that electrical components will always operate within specified limits, and if necessary with automatic output current reduction in extreme ambient conditions.
Flexible
In addition to a CAN bus interface (NMEA2000), a rotary switch, DIP switches and potentiometers are available to adapt the charging algorithm to a particular battery and its operating conditions. Please refer to the manual for a complete overview of the available options.
Important functions:
Synchronized parallel operation
Several chargers can be synchronized with the CAN Bus interface. This is made possible by simply connecting the chargers with RJ45 UTP cables. Please refer to the manual for further details.
The right amount of charge for a lead-acid battery: variable absorption time
During shallow battery discharges, the absorption charge time is limited to prevent overcharging. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to ensure the battery is fully recharged.
Preventing damage due to gassing: BatterySafe mode
If a high current has been combined with a high absorption voltage to achieve rapid recharging, the Skylla-i prevents damage due to gassing by automatically limiting voltage progression as soon as the gassing voltage is reached.
Less maintenance and ageing when the battery is not in use: stand-by mode
Sleep mode is activated when the battery has not been used for 24 hours. In standby mode, float voltage is reduced to 2.2 V/cell (26.4 V for a 24 V battery) to minimize gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week, the voltage is raised to absorption level to "refresh" the battery. This function prevents electrolyte stratification and sulfation, major causes of premature battery ageing.
For longer battery life: temperature compensation
Every Skylla-i comes with a battery temperature sensor. When connected, charging voltage automatically decreases as battery temperature rises. This function is particularly recommended for sealed lead-acid batteries and/or where large temperature fluctuations may occur.
Battery voltage sensor
To compensate for voltage loss due to cable resistance, the Skylla-i is supplied with a voltage sensor, ensuring that the battery is always charged at the correct voltage.
Suitable for AC and DC supply (AC-DC and DC-DC operation)
Chargers also accept DC power.
Use as a direct power supply
Thanks to its perfectly stabilized output voltage, the Skylla-i can be used as a direct-current power supply without batteries or large capacitors.
Compatible with lithium-ion batteries (LiFePO4)
Simple on-off control of the charger can be implemented by connecting a relay or open-collector optocoupler output from a lithium-ion BMS to the charger's remote control port. Alternatively, full voltage and current control can be achieved by connecting a galvanically isolated CAN bus port.
